Finishing is the final step of the manufacturing process that gives wood surfaces desirable characteristics, including enhanced appearance and increased resistance to moisture and other environmental agents. Finishing can also make wood easier to clean and keep it sanitised, sealing pores that can be breeding grounds for bacteria. Finishing can also influence other wood properties such as natural grains and hardness.

At Coobeh, we use a hand varnish finish on all our furniture, unless specifically asked otherwise.

Our finish is made from water based non-toxic polyurethane (Italian product) combined with a natural furniture oil to achieve the tough and durable finish. Also gives rich colour and will feel smooth and will leave your wood feeling natural and It brings out the best colour in the timber of any other finishes and provides extra hardness and wear resistance.

The oil provides deep fiber penetration, great colour and a “natural” feel to the timber. Also nourishes the wood.

But it can be a good help to use natural furniture oil protection regularly to keep your wood protected.

We use ultra high-gloss StyleLite panels specifically in our TV cabinets range products.

StyleLite® is a co-extruded, semi-rigid thermoplastic polymer sheet, which is intended as a lamination material suitable for bonding to a wide variety of substrates including E Zero MDF.

In Coobeh we guarantee the materials and craftsmanship of your new piece of furniture, It also is your responsibility to maintain the finish on your furniture. Like everything else worth having, your piece will need some basic maintenance to keep it always looking great.

  • Always use placemats under any hot, sharp and wet objects you place on the timber parts.

  • Avoid using a damp cloth on your furniture for the first six months after delivery. After that time, a damp cloth can be used sparingly if necessary. Always follow up a damp cloth with a soft dry cloth.

  • Do not re-oil your furniture just once every year. More than that may “over build” the finish.

  • In any case of deep scratches or timber damages, never use any type of oil or spirit based vainsh but the same water base polythurethane can be applied by an expert.

  • Our furniture is made to look great and to be used. With a little care, your furniture will last your lifetime.
